Validity and reliability of a novel subtalar joint axis of rotation locator measurement device

چکیده
Main outcome measures Variables that were measured in this study were as follows: 1) Inclination of STJ AoR in the sagittal plane measured by radiographic images (Median MDXP-40 Inc, Korea) of the foot in the sagittal plane. In order to collect radiological images of the foot, subjects stood with a tandem position and the STJ was placed in neutral position. Sagittal plane inclination of the STJ AoR were further analyzed using ViewRex (TechHeim, Korea) per McClay‘s method [1]; 2) Inclination of the STJ AoR in the sagittal plane was measured by the locator; 3) Inclination of the STJ AoR in the transverse plane was measured by the locator. The anterior and posterior exit point were determined per Kirby’s method [2]. Once the locator was aligned along two points, (anterior medial and posterior lateral exit point) a Digital Mini Protractor (WWC-TE Bevel Box, USA) was used to measure inclination angle. Pearson correlation was used to analyze the relationship of validity between radiographs and the locator measuring the STJ sagittal plane inclination. Intra Correlation Coefficient (ICC) was used to analyze day-to-day reliability of the locator.

Calculating the axes of rotation for the subtalar and talocrural joints using 3D bone reconstructions.
Orientation of the subtalar joint axis dictates inversion and eversion movements of the foot and has been the focus of evolutionary and clinical studies for a number of years. Previous studies have measured the subtalar joint axis against the axis of the whole foot, the talocrural joint axis and, recently, the principal axes of the talus. The present study introduces a new method for estimating...
متن کاملTibial rotation.
The rotation of the tibia and subtalar motion are being taken into account in some of the newer techniques for leg bracing. It is the purpose of this paper to investigate the precise relationship between these two movements. The rotation of the tibia in a horizontal plane, occurring during stance, is rotation about a simple vertical axis to a limited degree only. The major range of tibial rotat...
متن کاملComparing Cardan Rotation Angle and Finite Helical Axis Representations of Talocrural and Subtalar in Vivo Kinematics
INTRODUCTION The joints of the rear-foot are subjected to the highest stresses and are the most commonly injured, as compared the other joints in the human body. Yet, little is known about the in vivo kinematics of the talocrural and subtalar joints. The data available for these joints have typically been presented in terms of the finite helical axis (FHA) and are most often acquired through st...
متن کاملA technique of lateral process blockade for subtalar joint fusion: an easy, economical, and effective method to prevent rotation.
One of the most common debates in discussing the technique of isolated subtalar joint arthrodesis is whether a single point of fixation is adequate to achieve joint fusion. The single screw technique places a fixation device in line with the subtalar joint axis of motion. Regardless of whether the screw is run up from the plantar calcaneus or down from the talar neck, rotational movement can oc...
متن کاملPosition of the subtalar joint axis and resistance of the rearfoot to supination.
Determination of the position of the subtalar joint axis is being more widely used clinically to facilitate the prescription of foot orthoses and the understanding of foot function, but clinical determination of the axis has not been widely investigated. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between clinical determination of the subtalar joint axis and the amount of force need...
